You must feel an enormous amount of joy when you look at your son and what he has achieved.
But, I hope you realize where the strength came from…or at least some of it…

Wow, what a video.

Thank you for putting this post in your 7 links so I could find it to and watch the video.

I have a son that was born with brain damage. He probably had a stroke before he was born.

I spent 19 years helping him recover from the damage that was done to his brain. One fourth of his brain does not function.

During those 19 years I learned allot about the human brain.

Today, my son is 25, married,has a daughter and is a minister. You would not be able to tell that he has brain damage.

The brain is truly a marvelous thing.

It’s really helpful to get an insight into the effects of strokes and other damages to the brain, really helpful.

My mum, bless her, has had 2 aneurysms burst close to her brain. One in 2005 and the 2nd in 2009. With the first one she also suffered from 4 strokes and lost the use of her left eye for some time, being deaf as well this was a real scare as we stood to lose our communications with her.

She recovered and returned home after a few months in hospital. Then in 2009 she suffered the 2nd aneurysm burst and was at deaths door for a few weeks. When she came around she was confused but understood what we were telling her, before relapsing into la la land. She was in and out of that state for some time when the hospital said that medically they’d done all they could and wanted to send her home.

There was no way she could have managed so I fought the hospital to get my mum assessed by a specialist who agreed with me, that my mum couldn’t hold a thought long enough to be able to care for herself and was indeed at risk.

We managed to get her into a care home where, on new years eve last year she had a fall and banged her head. This time it caused a bleed to her brain and we thought we’d lost her again.

Tough as they come she recovered from that as well but was now a different person. One minute she thought that we were in 1950′s Dublin and the next she had to get home to feed her small children, who were then 41 and 43. When we told her they weren’t small boys anymore but were now men she turned violent towards us.

Her violence has now stopped but she still gets extremely confused and often asks me where her mum is, or mentions that she’s been out with her mum.

Sadly my grannie died in 1982 and to see the pain on my mums face every time she realises it is…. well painful doesn’t it Kathy.

I could relate to everything said in the video and now have a better understanding of what my mum has been through, and is still going through.

Well I can tell you that as a result of you posting this video your blog has now been viewed in a number of Australian homes. Tonight we went to my daughters for dinner. They have a laptop hooked up to their 42″ plasma. Your site was on a huge screen while we all sat round and watched it, I wanted them to see it too. The internet is an amazing amazing thing. WOWWWW!!!! I just had to thank you for posting this video on your blog. I hadn’t seen it before. Usually I lose interest very quickly with most videos but this one had me captivated. What an amazing woman. I’m sure I’ll be watching it again sometime soon. For now though, it’s off to watch one of John’s videos.
