At the end of the last post I promised to update my journey into Tyrone’s Mass Outsource Mastermind course. And, I do promise that I will give a detailed progress report in just a few days. But, I recently ran into a website that I’ve been totally smitten with and there is a contest running there with a time frame that needs to be addressed.

This unique, educating and entertaining site is “Tropical MBA”…and it is the brainchild of Dan Andrew. Dan is a lifestyle designer and location independent entrepreneur…basically what that means is Dan is free to choose his own lifestyle and to pursue his passions independent of any location. He has freedom and mobility to live life as he sees fit.

Dan left the comforts of home in beautiful San Diego over just over 2 years ago, literally leaving everything behind…grabbed his backpack and headed to Asia . He does digital marketing services for his own company now…based in the Philippines and travels whenever he wants because he operates his whole business on the computer.

What would make a successful businessman leave everything behind for an uncertain future?

If you have been in the Internet marketing field for any amount of time, the name John Reese will have made its way into your mail box. John is one of the earliest Internet Marketing Guru’s (geez the guy has been doing this since 1990!) and if you haven’t heard of him from that angle, then here’s an angle that you won’t easily forget:

Although I am in Tyrone’s class (and enjoying it…more on it later) I will be considering John’s course also. I want to learn from all the outsourcing Guru’s so that I can provide the best education to my own readers. This is a topic I am very, very passionate about and I am totally hooked on it as my niche. I simply love writing about it and taking action with it!

If your desktop looks anything like mine, your icons have invaded your  space and eaten your whole desktop.  Furthermore, trying to organize these icons into some sort of system can be daunting at best.

Well, I have good news for you. Today I was introduced to a program called Stardock (stardock.com…click on ‘fences’) that will organize your icons into easily navigable ‘fences’ that you can customize with your own titles and needs.

With Stardock you have the option to rename these fences, give it your own design colors and move them around to suit your needs and tastes.  I implemented this program this morning and I love it!  Now my desktop is not splattered with icons spread across the screen but organized and easy to navigate when I want to find a file, program or website.

Watch the video above and see for yourself what it can do for your desktop.  The program is presently free to use so take advantage of that fact. Cut out your desktop confusion and create fences that will make your Internet life much more pleasant to navigate and you won’t pull your hair out searching for that “lost among many…icon!”

Here’s a screen shot of my own desktop (click it for a closer view)…cleaned up with Stardock fences. As you can see there are scroll bars (you can ‘hide’ these scroll bars, but I made mine visible for you to see) in each fence that allow you to scroll down to view your files and folders. Your clutter is gone and in its place are fences of your choice with all your icons tucked neatly inside. Just use the scroll bar to locate them.

I am all for anything that makes my life easier and Stardock.com is my newest organizer! Check out the easy to follow video and get your own desktop organized.

I hope you enjoyed that little video. 

In my last post, we established the fact that your business will suffer if you do not learn how to properly outsource those chores and tasks that are unappealing to you or that you simply do not enjoy doing or maybe just don’t have the time to accomplish.  Remember, if your business has reached the point of needing help…that’s a good  thing.  It means your business has grown and reached a level of success that demands more… reaching for help at this point is imperative to the continued success of your business.  If your business is showing signs of growing pains…give it the attention it needs…learn to outsource.

For starters, make a list of the activities that you are required to do everyday  that eat up your time.  From this list decide which of these activities you enjoy or any tasks that you are good at and that use your time wisely.  The chores that are left are the ones that you need to look into outsourcing.

What are some of the tasks that you can outsource? Let’s start at the beginning and discuss those tasks that keep your business up and running:

1. website design and maintenance
2. content creation
3. any graphics
4. blog installation
5. newsletter creation
6. Shopping cart set-up and installation
7. customer service….always put yourself in a position of great customer service)

Customer service is one of the more popular tasks to outsource.  Remember, you started your business in order to be liberated….not tied to a computer screen.  Knowing that your customers are being taken care of promptly, intelligently and courteously will give you peace of mind and allow you  to live the lifestyle you were after.

Another area of Internet business’ that are typically outsourced are the different methods of driving traffic to your site such as:

1. setting up and monitoring your PPC (pay-per-click) campaigns
2. article writing and submissions
3. social networking and forum posting
4. SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
5. the writing and submission of any press releases

Marketing is a very important aspect of your business and there are contractors who understand how to make these campaigns effective and specialize in them.  Remember, without strong marketing, you  won’t have traffic to your site.  For example, SEO can be tricky because it’s controlled and run by the search engines who are always changing things up.  There are service providers who make it their business to study the latest information.  Unless you are particularly  strong in this field delegating tasks such as this can save you a lot of time, frustration and heartache.

A few months ago my 25 year old daughter who lives with me sent me a link to this song by Miley Cyrus.  She has followed my progress with this course from the beginning…through the trials and errors…through the triumphs and struggles…through the laughter and tears.  I continue to be amazed at the wisdom of the young.  It made me cry when I first played it because it reminded me that not only do I need to keep my vision alive and pushing towards it…but, to live in the precious moment…and as one of our most esteemed, wise classmates Mandy Allen (mandyallen.com) always says “enjoy the journey.”  If we are not enjoying the ride…then we’re missing out on the most important element of all…the JOY life brings in every moment.

So, from my daughter to me…to you:

But first we must understand one very basic principle in life…that principle is balance.  Everything in life needs balance.  The old adage “you can’t have one without the other” sums it up quite well.  You can’t have black without white, up without down, in without out….one simply doesn’t exist without the other.  They are the two apposing forces that create life.  Without cold, hot simply has no meaning….nothing to gauge it against.

To achieve success in life…no matter what endeavor we are trying to achieve,…we must apply this principle of balance.  We must copy the success of nature.You yourself are a being of balance.  Even your brain has two physical sides to it.  One for the intellect and one for the creative/emotional side.  Intellect without emotion is simply flat…flat words, flat pictures etc…no depth.  Emotions without intellect is equally as dangerous as emotions can steal away our peace if we don’t have intellect to balance it off.

By creating great, unique, appealing content within your site, you address the mind of your subscriber…you address their intellect…which is a must if you want to retain your members.  But, although great content may be what initially drew them in, there is another equally important element to creating a successful membership site.  That element is heart.  Without this element, your site will soon become ‘cold’ to your members and they will leave.

You as a human are a three fold being.  You are a balance of mind and heart…and, these together create your soul.  The soul is simply the totality of all that you are.  Your intellect and emotions.  Remember, you can’t have one without the other.

Apply this principle to all your endeavors in life…including your membership site.  By educating your subscribers with your unique content, you are addressing their mind, by allowing your passion to show through, you have captured their heart.

These two elements have created balance within your site…the only path to success.

This is how you need to approach your membership site.  Why?  Because you are dealing with human nature, not robots.  A robot would only require the intellectual side of your site, but we as humans are consciously or subconsciously always looking for balance.  You must tap into their minds and their hearts.

Giving your membership site ‘soul’ is simple….give them what they are seeking…consciously or unconsciously…give them balance.

Give them your mind and your heart.

Next we’re going to discuss a few modules within your site that are a must in creating this balance.

Till then…I am off to Tampa to see my grandkids.  They truly are the lights of my life.

Some of you may be wondering what that red rose is doing on my header.  In fact, I said in a previous post that I would reveal why it was put there in a future post.

Here’s the warm explanation.

My 24 year old niece Kerry passed to the other side on Dec. 9th 2007.  I was at her beside with her mom Barb when she transited.  By the time I arrived in Denver Kerry was not at all coherent….(although her eyes were open and staring) and on many pain killing medications.  All of her organs were shutting down and the first two days I was there there was no response at all in her face or in her eyes to any kind of gesture from any of us.  She was simply being kept alive with machines.

It was strange seeing Kerry like that…all kinds of tubes plugged into her and yet she seemed peaceful.  Soon we met with the doctors and it was decided that her family needed to remove the life support and let Kerry go to the higher heavens.  I cannot tell you how difficult that decision was.

That night while we were all sleeping in the waiting room Barb bolted straight up (it was about 5 in the morning. and we have now come to understand that it was Kerry waking her up and telling her to come into the room.)  I peeked out of my eyes and watched as Barb once again went into Kerry’s ICU room.  Suddenly, just a few minutes later she came running back into the waiting area and said Kerry’s awake and giving kisses.  I was up and in that room in a flash.  Immobile. and not moving any other muscles, if you got right up to her face, she puckered her sweet little lips ever so slightly and gave you a kiss  Her mom leaned over and talked with her and she turned her head ever so gently towards her.  I leaned over and told Kerry that she must “be” there for her mom and dad…that they would need her.  She nodded…so slightly…and, I knew she would be.

Within five minutes of waking she was back to her original non-responsive state.

We know now that Kerry had been gone for a while and that her angels and guides allowed her to come back and say good-bye to her mother and dad…and brother.  I was lucky to have been there to receive the blessing too.  It was an experience I will never, ever forget.  The heavens gave Kerry and her family the time they desperately needed…to say good-bye….before she left us…physically….to became FREE.

Not long before Kerry went into the hospital for the last time she asked her mom to pick her up a coloring book at the store (it was almost as though she was reverting to all her favorite childhood activities.) I can’t remember the name of the book she brought home to her, but it was one of those real thick coloring books.

The next day at Barb’s house she brought out the coloring book….there was only one page…and, one page only that Kerry had colored and it was the picture of a Red Rose….completed.  We knew that was Kerry’s sign to her mom that she will always be with her.  There have since been other very obvious signs with the Red Rose, but this one was so powerful.  I was also told (by my guides) to read the last paragraph of Bette Midler’s song “The Rose” at her passing celebration.

Every website or blog that I put up will now feature a red rose some place for all to see for I know Kerry is here helping me…..in every way she can, to succeed.  I can feel her presence.

We love you and miss you Kerry but we know that you are now singing with the Angel Choir and shining your bright spirit upon everyone.

Remember, there is only ONE thing and ONE thing only that all of the human race shares…and that ONE thing is Silence.  You share this with everyone.  This is where you will find your peace.

What does this have to do with Internet Marketing?  Nothing and everything.  Understanding yourself and your position in the Universe can only aid you on your journey to success.  Finding your place of peace will give you the patience and endurance you need to succeed online…through all your trials and errors.
