Hi John...Well, you single handedly made my day! I love it when someone new stops by and takes the time to comment. If you are looking to build your list John then Give aWays are the way to go to get it jump started. But, you made a valid point and that is that these Give aWay events are awesome for picking up some valuable information for free!
I hope you come back often! Kathy

Hey Kathy

First visit to your blog but definitely not my last. As a "still fairly newbie" type marketer I have joined giveaway events from the other side. i.e. signing up to lists to receive the gifts but didn't really look at them from a marketing point of view.

As regards autoresponders I am also using Aweber and just getting my head around the techie stuff. I actually found it "not three difficult" to customise a sign up form, although this may have been beginners luck!

Thanks for the really valuable info you are providing, I will definitely be back!

Cheers

John Chadwick

Hi Ron...thanks for bringing that point up...that unless we have something valuable in our autoresponder to entice them to stay signed-up we might loose them as lots of people sign up to get the freebies and then cancel....Very valid point...Thanks!

Kathy,

Fantastic information.

You hit the nail on the head with a couple of your points.

It is not necessary to have the entire ebook as the 'ethical bribe' to entice people to sign up. As you say, take maybe 10-20 pages from the book and create the report and use that. Doing it that actually leaves you with content to add to your autoresponder messages to keep your reader's interest.

What happens in a lot of these events is that people will sign up, download and then unsubscribe right away...if you set up your first message with some valuable content, it shows the person who has just signed up that your content is worth 'sticking around' for...

You are correct about how some hosts are running events now and it requires you to promote the event harder to have your eproduct stay listed. The scripts that are being used are allowing more options so that you can do that. Obviously upgrading may solve that problem. Purchasing the upgrade may also allow you to download the gifts you want without opting in to someone elses list.

Finally, YES, absolutely, you must have an autoresponder set up PRIOR to getting into the event...how else are you going to follow up with the subscribers you are going to get?? I use Aweber also.

Great job! Keep up the good work.

Hi Barry…I am so glad to hear that mum is on the mend. Ah…the power of prayer! You are a courageous soul Barry…injured and dealing with your own pain and then being strong for mum. I will continue to pray for her healing…and, yours too!
Anyone reading this should definitely take a look at your brandable ebooks. They are quality!

Hi Kathy, now that is what i call quick (refering to fixing the issue i told you about).

This is an excellent post Kathy, with some great tips and advice.

I’d also like to say “Thanks for the support you gave while my mum was at deaths door”. You all helped a great deal.

Regards, Barry

PS I’ve just finished creating a couple of free brandable ebooks, which are available from my blog.
