Spam….or not….

Good Glorious Morning!

I really love mornings.  It pretty much doesn’t matter what state I was in when I went to bed….when the new day announces itself on the horizon, my slate is clean and ready to be filled with new adventures, new discoveries and most importantly OPPORTUNITIES.  I really love life.

I wasn’t going to write this morning. not for lack of something to say, but because I was short on time.

Then I checked into my dashboard.  Surprise, surprise, I received my first comment.  But wait, it ended up in my spam folder!  Of course I had to check it out.  Someone wrote and told me they liked my writing style and that they were looking forward to reading more from me.  Why is this spam…I thought?  Maybe he is known for doing this.  Time to research.  Sure enough, this person likes to leave that same comment all over the internet on different blogs.  Nothing genuine about that comment!  Akismet is the spam filter that WordPress uses and I am going to have to have more faith in it.  No doubt there are a lot of legitimate spammers out there just waiting in the weeds to clog your blog.  I wonder how these spammers find us so early on??  I am sure they target the new bloggers as any seasoned blogger would probably not have given it a second glance.  But, he accomplished what he set out to do as I was curious and clicked on his site.  I am sure that was his intention in the first place.  To get that “click” that the search engines like.  But, thankfully they are getting wise too.

But it was a first!  There is always something special about “that first” in anything…and, for me, this wasn’t any different.

Anyway, for what it’s worth it gave me that little boost of confidence that we all need on occasion….even if it was short lived…;)

My heart is the driving force behind everything I write and post here…and nothing is more important to me than that my readers “feel” my heart when they read.  I have spent 30 plus years studying in the Metaphysical field and although this blog is primarily about Internet Marketing, my passion for Universal Law and Principals naturally finds its way into my posts.

Universal Law and Principals will be the guidepost for all my marketing ventures.  It couldn’t be any other way.  It is who I AM.

Go enJOY your day.  Accept the “present” moment as the gift that it is…..and feel your connection to everything the Universe brings to you for discovery today.

Personal Relationships with your “lists”….

Sunday morning I submitted my “title” to Planet Divinity so they could proceed to create my custom header and footer.  What surprised me most, is that within a few hours I received an email and attached was my header and footer.  Now, that’s great service!  Never thought they would be working on Sunday, but they proved me wrong.  Thanks Planet Divinity, and most importantly, on a personal note… thanks Steve….I love it.

The next step was to incorporate the header and footer into my blog but it seems there are some people who have not had the chance to get it done…they need an extra week, so John Thornhill skipped to lesson five for this week.

Lesson five is all about that most important element in creating an income online, and that is YOUR LIST.  Without a list, you have no prospects.  That’s where AWeber comes in.  You can automate everything from their site once you have signed up.  The first thing will be to create and place on my blog an opt-in form.  We’ve all seen these if we spend anytime surfing the net.  Those are the little boxes found somewhere on the web page that asks for your name and email address.  John Thornhill once again stresses that this is the single most important thing we will be doing to create success.  There is a wealth of information on the AWeber site that I plan on reading and putting to use once I understand the whole process.  Things are really heating up now…;)

I was thinking while reading through some of the material on the AWeber site how much emarketing is similiar to marketing offline.  I presently work in offline sales and the same principles apply.  Most times the employees are required to keep a “book.”  What’s in the book?  Their list of course!  If someone comes in and expresses interest in a product, the first thing we try and do is capture their name and phone number.  It’s all about the follow up and creating a relationship with your “list.”  In my present environment it is done on the phone and in person and on the internet it is done through repeated emails.  Not sales emails, but emails to establish a relationship of trust and confidence in YOU…before you try and sell them something.  A good way to do this is to teach them something…give it to them free.  You could offer free ebooks that educate them or simply educate them in the emails you send out.  Another option is to do a series of emails that educate them on a certain subject.  I can’t tell you how much I’ve learned just from the emails I receive from different marketers.  So, I know first hand that it works.

Seems Universal Principals are coming into play again.  I know my best customers…my repeat customers are the ones I have taken the time to develop a personal relationship with.  Those are the ones that will actually seek me out when they come to purchase.  Take the time to understand your prospects/customers needs and most importantly don’t try and sell them something they don’t need or are not interested in.  You’ll be wasting their time…and yours.  Most likely if you manage to sell something to someone who really wasn’t in the market for that item….it will be returned.  I learned it the hard way.

Remember the Golden Rule…..”Treat others as you would like to be treated.”  Imagine yourself in their position and act accordingly.  Put their needs first.  Concentrate on making them happy and successful and I promise you the Universe will reward your efforts in a grand way.

After all, we’re all ONE.  What you do to another will, whether you choose to believe it or not…effect you.

May peace rule your day….

Title for Blog

Just finished a yahoo conversation with Edson Buchanan.  I am trying to come up with a title for this blog and I was just over thinking everything.  It really helps to have someone of his caliber to help me over these bumps.

My biggest problem is I am a perfectionist.  That can really get in the way and I know I need to loosen up and understand that I am still learning and I will make mistakes.  But, that’s all part of the process.  For the most part, and this goes for all things in life….the mistakes we make turn into our  greatest lessons learned.

Edson told me that he changed his title a few months after he had his first blog up.  That made me feel much better….that I could change it if I decided I didn’t like it.  Now that I know I am not stuck with it forever it should be a bit easier to just “let go.”  I know that sounds pretty elementary, but honestly, if I didn’t know that I could change it midstream (without putting up a new site), I am sure there are others out there that didn’t know either.  That’s exactly the kind of things I want to address in my blog on Internet Marketing…things that may seem very elementary to pros, but are very real to newbies.

Once I have chosen my title, I will be submitting it to Planet Divinity and they will be creating my custom header and footer…with input from me of course!  Can’t wait to see how it comes out.

So, with that in mind, I’ll go back to the drawing board and work on my title.  And, this time I won’t be so tough on myself….  😉

By the way, don’t forget to give yourself a hug today…..

Helping others….help themselves

Now that I’ve shared the motivating factors that brought me to this course, I’d like to share with you what I want to achieve from the whole process.  First and foremost, I need to make a living.  There are bills to pay, mouths to feed etc., and since I am the only one paying bills in my household at present, bringing in an income is a priority.  After all, I cannot be of use to anyone if I am buried in debt.  One must love themselves first before they can give love to anyone else.  But, it goes beyond that.

Enter Universal Law and Principles.  Once I have myself up and running and making a living off the internet, my desire is to help others succeed and release them from being the slave pions I spoke about in my previous post.  I see it everyday…I am surrounded by it at work.  People working hard for someone else and being paid a pittence of what their worth is.  It breaks my heart.  If only they knew what I know….I think to myself.

To give generously a monetary sum to help someone out is commendable, but to give someone the tools to achieve success in their own right, is a much more nobler deed.  One that will carry them into the future.  Of course there are certain traits that only they can supply.  Without them success will not come.  Motivation, desire and hard work will be their responsibility.  These are traits of the heart.

Now, go enJOY your day, think LOFTY THOUGHTS and KNOW that I care about you.

Corporate America

I received confirmation from Google Adsense that everything is in order and that I can proceed to set up my Adsense account.  Tonight I’ll finish that chore and hopefully by tomorrow morning I’ll see some Google ads on my site.  Wow!

Now, I’d like to share with you a bit of insight as to what drove me to sign up for this course.  Have you ever felt like a hamster on a wheel?  You know….working harder and harder at the job you are presently in but not getting anywhere?  Just spinning that wheel but staying in the same place no matter how much effort you put into your job?  That’s my story.  For years now, I have been at the top of my game in my job and yet, I have not moved up the ladder of success one rung.  And, although I’ve worked harder the last two years than all previous years, I didn’t even get a raise.  It’s called Corporate America and it can and will eat you alive if you allow it.  You do all the work, you’re the pion slave for the success of those above you…they push you hard in order to receive their bonus.  That would be all fine and dandy if they were willing to share their bonus with those below them…you know, the workhorses…the very people who made their bonus possible.  But, sadly, in most cases that’s not true.  You’ve done all the work…and, they reap the benefits.  Exactly my story.

That’s precisely why I am here.  I am ready to be my own boss.  But, not in a brick and mortar environment.  That’s way too confining.  I want freedom.  I know of no other job that allows the kind of freedom that Internet Marketing does.  Sure, it can be alot of work…especially in the beginning, but who reaps the rewards of all this effort?  You do.  My successes online will be exactly in line with the effort I put in and that my friends is exactly what I am after. One thing I am not afraid of is hard work.  I’ve been a hard worker all my life, but always for the benefit of someone else (the famous words of my dad are ringing in my ears as I write this “always give 110%.”)  The days of working hard to make someone else a success are soon to be in the past.  My goal is to study hard, work hard, reap the benefits of my own effort and say farewell (good riddence ) to Corporate America forever.

One last thing…being a student of Metaphysics (that’s my other passion) I believe everything happens for a reason.  If Corporate America didn’t do anything else, it was the major catalyst in my search for success elsewhere.  Which, ultimately led me here.  So, I guess…ironically, I actually owe them a debt of gratitude.  But, that’s all they’ll get from me….;)

To your success….and mine,
