General Archives Your Desktop Organizer

If your desktop looks anything like mine, your icons have invaded your  space and eaten your whole desktop.  Furthermore, trying to organize these icons into some sort of system can be daunting at best.

Well, I have good news for you. Today I was introduced to a program called Stardock (…click on ‘fences’) that will organize your icons into easily navigable ‘fences’ that you can customize with your own titles and needs.

With Stardock you have the option to rename these fences, give it your own design colors and move them around to suit your needs and tastes.  I implemented this program this morning and I love it!  Now my desktop is not splattered with icons spread across the screen but organized and easy to navigate when I want to find a file, program or website.

Watch the video above and see for yourself what it can do for your desktop.  The program is presently free to use so take advantage of that fact. Cut out your desktop confusion and create fences that will make your Internet life much more pleasant to navigate and you won’t pull your hair out searching for that “lost among many…icon!”

Here’s a screen shot of my own desktop (click it for a closer view)…cleaned up with Stardock fences. As you can see there are scroll bars (you can ‘hide’ these scroll bars, but I made mine visible for you to see) in each fence that allow you to scroll down to view your files and folders. Your clutter is gone and in its place are fences of your choice with all your icons tucked neatly inside. Just use the scroll bar to locate them.

I am all for anything that makes my life easier and is my newest organizer! Check out the easy to follow video and get your own desktop organized.

Content Management Systems Save Time

For those of you interested in starting a membership site, no doubt in your research you have come across the term content management system. What exactly is a content management system? A content management system is a web application created for non-technical users to add, edit and manage the content used on their website.

Your content can include text, images, video, sound, documents, and graphics…basically anything you can add to your website can be managed by one of these systems.

A content management system is a software program that will allow the average person to create an HTML website without having to know anything about HTML. The beauty behind this is that even the most inexperienced person can produce a website that looks professional and inviting, and they won’t have to pay a cent to any programming expert or spend hours attending lectures and reading material. Instead, they can spend their time working out the particulars of their websites. Time is money and any software that can shave time off the website maintenance process is worth its “weight” in gold.

Essentially, people use content management systems to efficiently and effectively implement their desired outcome making their life easier and saving valuable time that can be be better utilized in other aspects of their business.

Without proper maintenance, even the best membership sites will become stagnant. In order to keep your members satisfied but hungry, you will need to keep your website constantly updated with fresh, new material and a CMS can store, schedule, as well as drip feed your content to your subscribers. A content management system will ensure that the upkeep of the website is as simple as creating new content and clicking a few keys.

If you combine a good content management software program with a good membership software program, then your possibilities are nearly limitless.

One content management system is not equal to another. Some programs are more intuitive than others. When you choose a software system, aim for one that is reasonably priced and easy to use. There are many open source (free) CMS’s available as well. Check product reviews online and don’t be afraid to compare product samples. Also, take advantage of free trials when they are offered. If you can get a quick feel for the program, you determine right away if it is right for you.

There are many, many choices for content management solutions, with more entering the market everyday. Like any other major player for your website, you need to do your research/homework to discover which content management system best suits your website or membership site needs.

Discover Life on Your Terms

by Mike Mott

Mike’s great new book is perhaps one of the easiest reads I’ve had in a ong time on the subject of Life enhancement – and believe me, I’ve read a lot! The trouble with most books on this subject is that they usually contain in excess of 300 pages, which, when you’re busy can take an age to read and digest.

This valuable and life strengthening book is succinct, interesting, and well thought-out but with good sound and sensible advice for the non-professional. It is immensely persuasive and for many this could be just the motivational kick start you need. Read the rest of this entry
